On Friday, November 21, 2025, Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT) hosted a roundtable discussion in a hybrid format featuring H.E. Mr. Takeshi Akamatsu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Senegal, on the theme of creating social impact in global regions.

First, Ambassador Akamatsu gave a lecture titled "Diplomats and Science and Technology," in which he discussed his experiences and the role and mission of diplomats.

Afterwards, two JICA staff members who were invited as guests spoke freely about their experiences and what inspired them to join JICA. The discussion proceeded in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere throughout, punctuated by moments of shared laughter.

About 30 students participated in the event and gained great inspiration by hearing directly from professionals active overseas. NUT will continue to provide such opportunities for dialogue and learning, and remain dedicated to developing human resources who can solve social issues.
