Hosting International Students from the University of York (UK) and Conducting Joint Research
For approximately two months starting in January 2026, NUT hosted two international students from the University of York in the United Kingdom, a J-PEAKS participating institution. Assistant Professor Kazuya Yokota of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and other faculty members served as host instructors, and they conducted joint research—including investigating the effects of music on human psychology—using an acoustic system called a “speaker array” installed at the university’s Sound and Vibration Engineering Center.
During their stay, in addition to joint research, the visiting students participated in campus exchanges, such as giving presentations at lectures. It is hoped that this visit will serve as an opportunity to further develop mutual exchanges between our university and the University of York. We will continue to engage in research exchanges with our partner universities and promote initiatives aimed at expanding our research activities internationally and accelerating and enhancing their practical application in society.
