In February 2026, a new manufacturing base, "L-LAB," was established at Akita International University (AIU), a partner university, and commenced operations at the end of March as a collaborative branch of Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT).

"L-LAB" is a fabrication space equipped with digital machine tools, serving as a creative space where students can freely shape their ideas. The establishment of this branch will further expand the network of the J-PEAKS project promoted by NUT, and is expected to generate new innovations through the fusion of "manufacturing" and "liberal arts" that transcends the boundaries of humanities and sciences.

Going forward, both universities will make maximum use of their combined resources to further promote efforts to solve regional issues, foster creative human resources with a global perspective, and advance international academic collaboration.
