The 3rd Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration "Comprehensive Knowledge" Workshop for Regional Development was held on Friday, February 6, 2026.
On Friday, February 6, 2026, a workshop was held at Yorineshi-Shinbata, Shinbata City Hall, to promote regional development through industry-academia-government collaboration and the utilization of "comprehensive knowledge.
Before the workshop, students from Universiti Teknologi Melaka, Malaysia, with whom TWMU has exchanges in water treatment technology, gave a presentation on their educational activities and results for early recovery from disasters, followed by a keynote lecture by Teiichi Oya, specially-appointed professor in the Department of Technology Science and Innovation, on "Regional Collaboration and Social Implementation Linked by Engaging with Fermentation Researchers. The keynote speech was given by Professor Teiichi Oya of the Department of Technology, Science and Innovation.
In the workshop, the past two sessions were reviewed, and the officials of the city of Shibata introduced the utilization of closed schools, the current state of organic agriculture, and study-togethers for young people to learn about rural areas, followed by discussions among the six teams.
Themes for each team
1. people development in Shimbata City
2. strengthening organic shinden
3. local biomass utilization for promotion of mountainous areas
4. entrepreneurship for social impact formation
5. utilization of Kines Honda (former Honda Elementary School in Shibata City)
6. devising disaster prevention facilities and services required for the increase in inbound traffic.
The teams were facilitated by students from the university, and included employees of the city of Shibata and the regional development bureau, city council members, and volunteers from local businesses, as well as faculty from the technical college with which the university has a partnership and specially appointed faculty with a wide range of experience. The event provided an opportunity for a lively exchange of ideas and discussion on how to make these ideas a reality. International students who appeared at the pre-event also participated in Workshop 6, contributing to the multicultural co-curricular activities that the university is aiming for.
The participating people from the new plant expressed their appreciation for the opinions expressed about the future of the new plant from a variety of perspectives, and gave high marks to the formation of a place for co-creation based on "comprehensive knowledge.
The University will continue its efforts to collaborate with the local community, especially in Shinden and other areas.
