On Monday, August 4, 2025, the "Symposium on the Project to Strengthen Regional Core and Distinctive Research Universities (J-PEAKS) 2025" (hosted by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and co-hosted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) was held at the Japan Industrial Club building.

The purpose of this symposium was to widely disseminate information regarding J-PEAKS, introduce the initiatives of the universities selected in FY2024, support networking among the selected institutions, and facilitate matching with the industrial sector.

From Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT), President Shigeharu Kamado took the stage to present the university's specific initiatives under this project. Under the core vision of the "Expansion of the Technological Science Concept through Collaboration with Public Universities and KOSEN (National Institutes of Technology), and Creation of an SX Research University that Generates Social Impact," NUT aims to realize a world-class "SX (Sustainability Transformation) Research University that creates social impact," advancing both societal and institutional sustainability.

Through this project, NUT will continue to take on the challenge of further strengthening cooperative relationships with partner universities and institutions, while also seeking to build collaborative networks with other J-PEAKS-selected universities, enabling the university to make even greater contributions to the community and society.
