Visit by MEXT Deputy Director-General Fukui and Delegation regarding J-PEAKS Initiatives/ July 28, 2025
On Monday, July 28, 2025, Mr. Toshihide Fukui, Deputy Director-General of the Science and Technology Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), visited Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT). The delegation engaged in a constructive exchange of opinions with President Kamado and the university's executive board concerning NUT’s initiatives under the "Project to Promote the Enhancement of Regional Core and Distinctive Research Universities (J-PEAKS)."
The session began with an overview of the project provided by Executive Vice President Dr. Nakayama. Deputy Director-General Fukui then highlighted that, as a J-PEAKS-adopted institution, NUT is expected to serve as a regional core and a domestic hub for its specialized research fields, leading the way for Japan’s research university clusters.Following his remarks, President Kamado and other board members discussed the university's specific strategies, including human resource development and the strengthening of research infrastructure.


Later, the delegation moved to a separate venue for detailed presentations. Professor Tanaka, Director of the Center for Analytical Instrumentation, and Director Hiraga of the DXR Agile Manufacturing Research and Development Center, introduced NUT's distinctive Core Facility Program and DXR Manufacturing Platform. The visit concluded with an insightful discussion among technical staff, URAs, and the delegation regarding current progress, evaluations, and future prospects, followed by a tour of the related facilities.
