【Event Report】Special Seminar: "Regional Revitalization through Science and Technology Policy and Co-creation" was held (July 14, 2025)

On Monday, July 14, 2025, the Nagaoka University of Technology held a special seminar titled “Regional Revitalization through Science and Technology Policy and Co-creation” in a hybrid format at the Regional GX Innovation Co-creation Center.

The seminar featured passionate lectures and presentations by leading figures from industry, government, and academia. Speakers shared diverse perspectives on the future of regional development and science, technology, and innovation.

Part I: DXR Manufacturing Platform Special Study Session
Under the theme "Regional Revitalization Strategies through Co-creation: Challenges of Regions x Companies x Universities," the first session featured three business leaders who also serve as specially appointed faculty members at NUT.
Mr. Kenji Kato (Daido Kogyo Co., Ltd.) provided practical insights into the mindset required to take on global challenges from a regional base. Mr. Akito Tsugishige (Spline inc.) discussed winning strategies for regional companies in the age of AI. Mr. Thomas Pang (Additive Japan Corporation) proposed concrete strategies to enhance national strength through 3D printing.

Part II: Seminar on the Next Science, Technology, and Innovation Basic Plan
The second session, co-hosted by the Cabinet Office, Government of Japan, focused on the core of national strategy.
Following powerful opening remarks by Mr. Yasuhiro Sato (Senior Advisor to Mizuho Financial Group, Inc. / Executive Member (Part-time) of CSTI, Cabinet Office), Mr. Tsuyoshi Nagasawa (Counselor, Cabinet Office) provided a detailed explanation of the key discussion points for the interim report of the next Basic Plan. The subsequent general discussion session saw a lively exchange of ideas from both in-person and online participants, exceeding the scheduled time.

Nagaoka University of Technology will further accelerate its efforts in research and development that makes the best use of local resources, human resource development for the next generation, and international industry-academia-government collaboration through deep dialogue between industry, government, and academia, such as this seminar.
