On Thursday, January 8, 2026, Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT) hosted an in-person special lecture featuring Mr. Hiromi Yano, former Counsellor in the Rules Division of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The lecture included statistical comparisons between Switzerland (Geneva), where he still lives, and Japan, as well as how environments shape human thought, and other topics of great interest to students who aim to play an active role in international society in the future.

After the lecture, the audience raised numerous questions, all of which were answered thoughtfully and thoroughly by Mr. Yano. The session became highly engaging and extended well beyond the scheduled closing time.

Through this project, NUT will continue to promote initiatives for the development of young human resources and international collaboration.
